Where is that song?

Friday, August 29th, 2008 | just some music

I am very picky as to what music I listen too. Everyone picks music based on what mood we are in. Sometimes you might want to the fast heavy songs, other times you want a easy listening slow song, and then there are just some in-between.

I always want to hear new music, yet going through 50-100 songs by different groups and I cannot find a song I want to listen too. Sometimes it is because of the lyrics or it is because of the song, or maybe just the way it was produced made it sound horrible.

The best place to find independent/non-radio songs that you probably have not heard of is elbo.ws. I can be on that till the wee hours of the night getting songs because you can never manage to understand just how many songs there are out there.

After going over the list of songs and picking around 25 of them, I’ve decided to post a couple and point out what it is about them that make them it.

The first one would just be for the people that can listen to a song without any lyrics. I didn’t find this off the elbo.ws, as it is the main theme for a movie I just recently watched “Sunshine”. I’ll post about that a little later. This song has something about it that makes you want to keep listening. The begining a little desolate without much sound but random noises…as the time ticks on though the violins kick in and start the build up. Then the piano, drums, cymbals come in not stopping the violins and keeps going and going and going. As with most music that doesn’t have lyrics you need to envision a senerio and just keep with how the song makes you feel. Sounds kind of dumb, but this type of music has been around longer than any of the music today. (Think classical music with Mozart, Bach, Chopin, etc…)

also there is this version with a guitar replacing most of the violins from the first one.

This one actually was catchy when I heard it today. It has a little bit of synthy music in the background but it works. There are lyrics in this one so that is good, I guess. But I guess walking on a dream has to have that upbeat feeling.

I was going to post a couple more but realized I just ran out of cigarettes and need to run and get some more. Don’t worry as I said there are always new songs being made and posted on the internet for everyone to have, and not put into a queue for some record executive to decide when it will be given out.

Hi there! Just wanted to say that I was EXTREMELY thankful for the posting of the music from SUNSHINE. It’s been driving me nuts trying to find the tracks-bad enough that the soundtrack won’t be released due to the haggling of rights.

Quick question for you: where did you find the “Sunshine” track (the one without the Underworld track overlays to the orchestration)? I’d like to find that one myself, if possible.

Again, thank you very much.

@JD
There was a link to a megaupload located within the comments of IMDB for Sunshine. Not sure where exactly but if you go through the comments it should be somewhere. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448134/board?p=1
